Born into a Construction Family – generations of – it was a given I would follow and enter the world of bricks and mortar myself at some point. Starting my own venture in 2008 after twenty years in the Financial Sector, I worked hard to learn my chosen craft of Design from the ground up – on the job. Working on restoration projects heightened my interest in History and Architecture and from that a keen research into both. Recording as I learnt, Photography became a natural progression, a chronology of my ‘History Hunts’. In this too I discovered I had a natural ability to learn on the job. Entirely self taught, the instant gratification I get from photography led to me devoting more and more time to being a Photographer.
My work is often described as ‘’quirky’’, editing the shot at source to create a unique capture of the visual, as it is, rather than a back office finish after the fact. The creative element of my work led to a recommendation to submit to Getty Images and after examples of this type of photography were sent to them, in July 2017, I was delighted to be accepted as one of their Creative and Editorial Photographers. Arguably the most significant global image and media communicator – working with Getty and learning through their excellent guidance and support – my work and experience now extends into the Commercial field as well as Heritage and Media imagery, along with private commissions.
To compliment my work in recent years my experience has led to other exciting opportunities working for The Royal Photographic Society within their Heritage and Archaeology Special Interest Group. I am also a member of the British Institute of Professional Photographers giving assurance and confidence in the standard and quality of my work.
Photography and Design lend themselves well to my constant desire to learn and develop my creative skills. My ‘scrapbook’ is extensive and every project I work on, a page, a chapter, in that book. My ultimate aim is to capture – to record. It could be your moment or a minute in social history. Whatever the occasion, with me, it will be memorable…
