Stamford Mayor Making Ceremony

It was my absolute pleasure to attend the Stamford Mayor Making Ceremony this year. Stamford Town Council – formerly the Borough Council for the area – has a pretigeous history of Mayors dating right back to the 1600’s. Within the Town Hall – in the Court Room – there are several handpainted boards displayed on the walls that chart the lineage of the Town’s Mayors. It’s remarkable that the boards survive, even more remarkable is that this ceremony remains unchanged all these years later, with the outgoing Mayor announcing the new Mayor and the Town Clark overseeing the event.

I am delighted that my good friend and colleague David Taylor was proposed as Town Mayor for 2022. He has done much for the town in his eight years as a Councillor, including helping to create the Local Neighbourhood Plan – which concentrates on ensuring a sensible approach to development – as well as introducing plans for the Stamford ‘Green Wheel’ – an initiative to help reduce traffic within key areas of the town centre.

I was delighted to capture his special day and look forward to working with him during the course of his tenure, as a Councillor myself, to help improve as much as we can for our residents.
