Stamford Mayor Making Ceremony

It was my pleasure to attend this year’s Stamford Mayor-Making ceremony. Stamford Town Council—formerly the Borough Council—boasts a distinguished history of Mayors dating back to the 1600s. Inside the Town Hall, in the historic courtroom, several hand-painted boards record the continuous chronology of the town’s Mayors. Their survival is remarkable, and it is equally striking that the ceremony itself has remained virtually unchanged throughout the centuries.

I was especially pleased to see my good friend and colleague, David Taylor, proposed as Mayor for 2022. During his eight years as a Councillor, David has made significant contributions to the town, including playing a key role in shaping the Local Neighbourhood Plan, which focuses on ensuring responsible development to protect Stamford’s heritage. He also helped introduce plans for the Stamford “Green Wheel,” an initiative aimed at reducing traffic within key areas of the town centre.

I was delighted to document his special day and look forward to working with him throughout his tenure.
